Gisou.
A personal series. I wanted a summer feeling that did not come from a warm filter, so I built it from a low perspective with flowers. Real sky is the difficult part. It moves, it shifts in value between frames, and it will not wait while you fix the foreground. So the camera went to ground level and shot up through red, orange and white poppies into it. The petals fall out of focus close to the lens and the sky sits behind as a clean plane. Hard sun, saturated colour, no diffusion anywhere.
The tabletop frames carry the product. Honey poured and pooling with its bubbles left in, on a soft peach gradient, backlit so the amber glows through the glass rather than sitting on the front of it. In hair oil photography the viscosity is the story, and viscosity only reads when the light comes from behind. Styling by Sammie Sperring.
