Glamour Gold Standard.
Editorial for Glamour and the Gold Standard awards. The winning products had to be in the picture, and they arrived in different shapes, finishes and brand colours. A shelf of winners photographed as themselves is a shelf. Beauty awards photography has that problem built into it, because there is no single picture in a group of unrelated packs. So we drenched all the hero products in gold paint. One material across everything puts a mixed group into one object family, and it makes the picture about the award rather than about the brands competing inside it.
The paint went on thick and was left to drip off the edge of a white plinth, with a gold splash crown frozen around a serum bottle. Matte mint green behind it for contrast, and soft even light so the metal surface carries the frame. The packs end up close to illegible, which is the point of the treatment. The same interest in a substance doing the describing runs through the Mark Making texture work. Shot in London for Glamour.
