Mark Making.
The product is completely absent here. The substance is the whole project, shot as a set of textures rather than as something supporting a pack. Substance on its own has no scale and no reason to hold still. A smear slumps, a gel puddle levels out, and combed cream loses its ridge marks within a minute of being laid. So everything was troweled and combed to hold that ridge, then lit hard from the side to build relief. The mark is the form. Whipped white cream, thick chocolate mask slabs, a serum drip caught in a loop.
The clear gel puddle is shot close enough to read its surface tension and the bubbles trapped under it. Graduated grounds run cream through to deep brown so a crop can be taken anywhere across the frame. Beauty swatch photography like this exists to be cut into and composited, so the frames were built as material rather than as finished pictures.
