TRESemmé.
Unilever needed the TRESemme packs and the product itself in the same picture. I shot the stills, with mark making and texture work alongside the bottles, and hand models interacting with them. A black ground is unforgiving in salon product photography. Cream, oil and foam all lose their edge against it unless the light is doing one job only. So I lit hard from one side and let the texture be the brightest thing in the frame. The bottle lies flat and the marks sit around it as placed gestures rather than accidents. Combed cream stripes, black oil beads, meringue foam.
Two frames put the bottle into a dark bath of water and catch a fine mist arc through a shaft of light. The glossy labels take a strong specular edge, and that edge is what lifts them off the ground, rather than an outline found later in post. Holding one ground across every frame is what makes a range read as a range. Set design by Olivia Clifford. Shot in London for Green Park and All Things Hair, alongside the Dove and Nexxus work.
