Bacchanalia.

Bacchanalia's drinks are built around the Greek gods displayed in the restaurant, and the job was to photograph that link rather than describe it. Each cocktail had to be shot with the god it is based on present in the frame, in the room itself. We built plinths, pedestals and podiums around the cocktails in the space, so each drink stood where a sculpture stands and was treated as one. I worked a single soft key from upper left and let it fall away into deep shadow, with the blacks lifted so a frame finishes closer to oil paint than to a bar shot. Garnish stayed minimal on purpose. The vessels carry the sculptural line, coupes on marble, a tumbler on a gilded pedestal, a stone-god mask cup, and the colour comes from draped crimson, teal and bronze silk filling the frame behind.
