Beer Macros.
This was a personal exploration of beer as a liquid. I wanted to find ways to make it look alive, and to give the whole drink room in the frame: the pour, the serve and the foam. The hard part was holding two things at once. The foam had to keep its texture, and the carbonation had to stay visible through the liquid. Working in close, beer macro photography lets each bubble read on its own and the foam hold its structure at the rim. Carbonation is the part I kept coming back to, so the liquid is the subject in every frame.

Some frames catch the pour as it leaves the bottle. Others follow the foam as it climbs over the glass, or the bubbles as they gather and rise along the side. The same beer behaves differently with each pour, so no two frames repeat. More drinks work sits on the Drinks and serves page, including the fizz of Schweppes Effervescence.
