GVJ Dried Flowers.
A set of GVJ rings shot with dried flowers. The job was finding ways to present the flowers around the jewellery rather than simply behind it. Dried botanicals sit in the same ivory range as everything else in that kind of frame, and a ring balanced on top of a bloom looks exactly like a ring balanced on top of a bloom. So the flowers became the settings. Morganite, aquamarine, sapphire, ruby, amethyst and solitaire rings sit inside the trumpets of bleached flower heads and seed pods, held the way a claw holds a stone. The prop does a job rather than sitting alongside one.
Bleaching the botanicals right out means the stone is the only saturated thing in the picture. Shot at macro and very shallow, with a soft warm key and creamy falloff, so the frame softens away at both ends and the eye has nowhere to go except the colour.
