GVJ Paper Landscapes.
Paper landscapes and abstract forms, built as spaces for GVJ's rings to sit inside rather than backdrops to place them in front of. A ring is small and a set is not. Build anything with real presence and the piece turns into a detail in someone else's picture. Hand cut paper does both jobs at once. Folded card, rolled tubes, punched circular apertures and layered curved shapes generate the composition, and the same forms give the rings something to balance on, an edge, a scroll, a lip. Nothing is in the frame that is not also holding something up.
Everything stays cream, off white and buttermilk, and matte the whole way through, so the only crisp speculars belong to the metal and the only colour belongs to the stones, garnet, sapphire, pink and smoky. Lit soft enough that the folds grade rather than break into hard lines.
