Sexy Fish Unity.
A cocktail menu shoot for Sexy Fish, built on a what is in it idea. Each serve is presented alongside whatever it is made of: melon and olive branch, wheat ears, coconut, mounds of raspberries, figs, apple blossom, plums. Cocktail ingredient photography splits the frame in two. Give the produce equal billing with the glass and neither one wins, and the picture stops being about the drink. I kept them in the same light and separated them with colour instead. A rippled wet mirror ground underneath both, spectrum gradients blended across the backdrop, coral into magenta, teal into green, gold into violet, so the pile and the serve read as different weights inside one world rather than as two subjects fighting.

The mirror is wet and rippled in camera, so the reflection breaks up rather than duplicating the glass underneath it, which keeps the base of the frame busy without adding another object. The rest of the Sexy Fish work, including the built reef sets, sits on the drinks and serves page. Set: Charley Taylor. Food: Sammie Sperring.
