Lulu Guinness, Cloud Lulu.
Lulu Guinness wanted a Valentine's campaign that celebrated the products in set rather than on a table. The idea was Cloud Lulu, which is effectively Cloud Nine, loved up and happy, so the pictures had to feel like somewhere you could stand rather than a backdrop behind a bag. These were two full builds, not tabletops, and each was built in one colour. Red on red and pink on pink both collapse under flat light. So I lit them differently. Richer contrast across the red satin so the pleats hold their form and the lips-shaped aperture stays an opening you look through. Softer and more even on the pink, so the stepped architecture, the arches and the plinths read as depth instead of a painted flat.
The clouds are real cotton wool and the bags hang mid air on ribbon, all of it in front of the lens. Holly Isabella sourced and built the lip podiums and the staircases so each product could sit inside the world rather than in front of it, with hard-edged colour blocking holding one discipline per set.
