MADE.com wanted the gifting range celebrated on set rather than laid out as a range. Candles, diffusers, vases, ceramics, a table lamp, cushions and a cat teepee have nothing in common as objects, and shot straight they read as a catalogue page. Gifting is an act between two people, and there was no figure in these pictures to do it. So the hands do it. Bare arms reach in from off frame to hold or place each object, which puts a person in the picture without putting a model in it, and gives every frame a gesture rather than an arrangement. The sets are stepped painted plinths in flat saturated colour against full-height fabric curtains, and each frame is built around one colour family, cobalt, terracotta, dusky rose or sand, so the object rather than the palette does the changing.
