MADE.com needed the pieces made through Talent Lab shown as designs in their own right, not dressed into room sets. I shot the stills. The installation was white on white. Furniture set on a white plinth against a white studio wall loses its edges, and a designer chair that loses its profile stops being a design and becomes a shape. The LED tubes are the answer to that. They run through the build as visible structural strokes, embedded in the plinths and carried across the angled planes, so every piece has a hard drawn line behind or beside it holding its silhouette. I kept the ambient key soft and low enough that the strips stay the brightest thing in frame and the whites stay separated rather than blown.
The furniture is tipped, cantilevered and floated off the stacked geometry rather than sat squarely on it, which shows the underside and the joinery on pieces you would normally only see from the front. The palette is held near monochrome, white, grey and cool concrete, with one or two saturated pieces per frame carrying all the colour.
