Starbucks White Chocolate & Chestnut.
White chocolate and chestnut for Starbucks, through TBWA\London. The job was to explore the flavours through set design and celebrate the taste and craft of the liquid, so the flavour had to be in the picture rather than described on the cup. Chestnut and white chocolate are brown, cream and beige. Seasonal coffee photography leans on colour to carry a flavour, and this one gives you nothing to separate on. So the separation came from form and camera height instead. Shaved chestnut and chocolate arranged into radial sunbursts in some frames, heaped into a mound the cup sits on top of in others, with the camera down at ingredient level so the pile fills the foreground. Low key light throws long soft shadows across a warm painted sky wash, which gives the beige a direction to run in.
Shallow focus falls away through the nuts so the pile reads as depth rather than as pattern. The motion came off the same build under the same light, on a motion control rig.
